My name is Maya and I am 23 years old. I graduated Cum Laude from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. I am a certified in Elementary Education. During my undergraduate studies at Roger Williams University, I earned significant hands on experience in both the domestic and international teaching arenas.

The most memorable experience for me was the semester I spent studying abroad at Arcadia University, in Barcelona Spain. While in Barcelona, I was enrolled in classes conducted exclusively in Spanish. These classes, and the immersion in day-to-day life in Spain, fostered my development of advanced communication skills across multiple dialects. During my time in Barcelona, I volunteered at a local elementary school, as an English teacher. My experience in facilitating this program helped cultivate and reinforce my interest, passion and knowledge of cross-cultural education for English Language Learners.

During my final year at Roger Williams, I held a student-teaching position in a 4th grade classroom located in an urban school district. My time in this classroom solidified my commitment to teaching, as I saw first hand, the immeasurable impact education can have in a students life. As a result of outstanding recommendations from faculty and community members, in conjunction with high achievements in the classroom, I was nominated and selected for a highly competitive foreign teaching immersion program, for the American School in Switzerland (TASIS) located in Dorado, Puerto Rico. My experience at this prestigious private school afforded me a rich environment for development, and application of my previously acquired teaching skills, specifically in the space of multicultural education.

During the summer months, I return back to my hometown in The Hamptons, Long Island NY. There, I nanny for multiple families as well as tutor students once or twice a week in Spanish. I will be returning to the Hamptons mid-June and looking for families in need of tutoring or babysitting Monday through Friday with occasional date nights. Please do not hesitate to contact me!
