I have a big family, I am one of six and so growing up I had to take care of my younger siblings and as my older siblings grew older, they had kids and I often babysat all four of them at same time. However, when my siblings were young they became really sick, so I spent a lot of time in the hospital. I became so amazed by the services that the doctors provided and wanted to become just like them, saving childrens lives. My desire is to become a pediatrician. Therefore, I tried different opportunities to work with children. As an artist assistant, I worked with children ages 5 to16 in different art projects in their community such as painting murals. As a teachers assistant at a nursery school, I assisted in planning activities with children ages two to four years old. During my study abroad experience, I worked with volunteers in underserved communities to inform and teaching new mothers about childcare and other healthcare-related topics pertinent to the health of both mother and child. I also worked as a Camp Counselor where I facilitated and mentored 5-6 year olds through goal setting and educational praise, created and performed in several campfire skits.
