Ali S.

Hi my name is Ali Savely and I am a student at Parsons The New School for Design. I’ll be graduating in 2015 with a B.B.A., as I want to pursue arts management. I started babysitting (at first for my sisters then later for my neighbors) in 8th grade. I really appreciate the ages from 5-9! I’ve had the most experience in caregiving for that age group. I’ve found that dealing with those ages has taught me great patience; but, more importantly, respect [for the kids]. At those ages they tend to be at the prime of their wittiness and ingeniousness- and I often find myself vicariously lost in their creativity. Of course, I welsome all ages and have had experience with every age group. As for my personal life, I grew up in a suburb just north of Boston. I have two younger sisters (17,14), two cats, and a dog. I graduated high school with high honors from Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA. I currently reside in the East Village of New York City with my roommate from school. I’ve done a great amount of community service: volunteer at the Lazarus House in Lawrence, MA, a facility providing support for homeless families in the Merrimack Valley, volunteer for the Salvation Army food preparation and service in North Andover, MA, and a volunteer at the Prescott nursing home in North Andover, MA. I was a summer counselor at a children’s art camp for 5 years (after having attended the camp for 7). I love to cook! My mom is an ex-forensic-social-worker-gone-chef and her passion for food has definitely inspired mine. My favorite board game is Candyland and my favorite children’s book is ‘Goodnight Moon’.
