I am a mother of 4 beautiful girls and 1 handsome boy. I have over 16 years of
childcare experience. When I was seven I realized I had a love for children, so much that I would offer to baby sit for free. I am the next to the oldest of 8 children. Being the oldest in the household I watched my brother’s all the time for my mom. My first job at 14 was that of babysitting a family friends foster children. In high school I completed my community service at a local Child care center. When registering for college I knew I wanted to work with children. Not just teaching them but taking care of them. During this time I was not aware that gaining a degree in teaching would allow me the work at a daycare so I decided to go to school for nursing. Not long after classes began my second daughter showed sights of separation anxiety. She was rejected by three daycare’s after showing signs that she was not adjusting. I then choose to provide informal childcare services for two families in my neighborhood. I did so for a year and a half. When my daughter who was suffering from anxiety turned 2 years old. I enrolled her in childcare with hopes that things would be better and different this time. She still showed sighs of separation anxiety. But thankfully they took her under there wing and we managed. Upon Attending a spring program at this center. I over herd the owners/ directors discussing the issue of needing to hire assistant’s for some of there centers and I approached and asked about the position. I interviewed and was hired. I worked for them for 4 and a half years at 3 of there locations. I resigned after 4 years do to conditions that I was not ok with working under. During my employment with this center I obtained my 90 hr. Certificate. I went on to work for 4 other childcare centers I also operated a home daycare for a total of 4 years. I closed down after my husband and I were scammed out of the rent to own home that I operated my daycare out of. I’ve worked for centers and was not happy. In the near future I hope to be in a position to return to home daycare. Until then I am looking to provide care for a family in need of my services. I’ve continued my educational courses throughout the years as licensing and childcare accreditation requires. Some of my certifications are due to be renewed which I am working on. I’m looking for a position that my 3 year old son’s attendance will not be an issue until he starts school this September.
